Best Race Class Explanation

ABBREVIATION INDICATES DEFINITION
GBW or GSW Graded Black Type Winner or Graded Stakes Winner Won at least one Graded Black Type or Stakes race.
BW or SW Black Type Winner or Stakes Winner Won at least one Black Type or Stakes race.
GBPW or GSPW Graded Black Type Placed Winner or Graded Stakes Placed Winner Won at least one race and finished 2 nd and/or 3 rd in at least one Graded Black Type or Stakes race.
BPW or SPW Black Type Placed Winner or Stakes Placed Winner Won at least one race and finished 2 nd and/or 3 rd in at least one Black Type or Stakes race.
GBP or GSP Graded Black Type Placed or Graded Stakes Placed Never won any race, but finished 2 nd and/or 3 rd in at least one Graded Black Type or Stakes race.
BP or SP Black Type Placed or Stakes Placed Never won any race, but finished 2 nd and/or 3 rd in at least one Black Type or Stakes race.
W Winner Winner of at least one race.
P Placed 2 nd and/or 3 rd in at least one race.
Unraced Unraced Did not race.
U Unplaced Never finished better than 4 th in any race.

Note: The codes above are in descending order beginning with the best race class.
Note: A horse would have only its best race class displayed. For example if a horse was both a Black Type Winner (BW) and a Graded Black Type Placed Winner (GBPW) the best race class abbreviation code would be BW. The wins the horse has are considered more important than when it finishes second and/or third, regardless of the type of the race.
